You set up your new computer and all imported files on your new hard disk have now a wrong “Date Created”? Or you copied all your vacation photos from your digital camera or your smartphone to your computer and you have discovered that the “Date Created” of all pictures is the date of copying?
For many applications it is important that the system displays the original creation and modification dates of the files. In particular what legal documents concerns, the original “Date Created” is of importance. Also when sorting your pictures, the original “Date Taken” is needed in order to document your reportage in the correct time sequence.
What Happened?
When copying files, Microsoft Windows™ takes the date of copying as the new file date “Created” and not the original creation date or date taken of files. Therefore, the “Date Created” can be more recent than the “Date Modified”.
