The free Fix File Encoding extension prevents Visual Studio 2017/2015/2013/2012 from adding BOM to UTF-8 files.

Normally, when you edit a UTF-8 file in Visual Studio, it adds the byte order mark (BOM) sequence 0xEF, 0xBB, 0xBF to the beginning of the file. Sometimes it confuses other applications further processing the file. You can select an encoding manually (File - Advanced Save Options... or File - Save As... - Save with Encoding...), but you need to do it each time you reopen the file.

YuPdf is a PDF document creation library for Delphi (Embarcadero, CodeGear, Borland versions). It includes the following functionality:

DIUnicode provides Unicode Reader and Unicode Writer classes for Delphi (Embarcadero / CodeGear / Borland). The classes implement automatic and native decoding and / or encoding of 150+ character sets when linked against DIConverters. DIUnicode's Pascal implementation features more than 70 encodings, like UTF-7, UTF-8, UTF-16, the ISO-8859 family, various Windows and Macintosh codepages, KOI8 character sets, Chinese GB18030, and more. Adding a new character coding is as simple as writing a single conversion procedure.

This code is part of 2 dimentional code family, it's in fact a code with several rows which can encode up to 2700 bytes what explain its name of "Portable Document File". The encoding is done in two stages : first the datas are converted to "codeword" (High level encoding) then those are converted to bars and spaces patterns. (Low level encoding) Moreover an error correction system with several levels is included, it allows to reconstitute badly printed, erased, fuzzy or torn off datas. In the continuation of this talk, the word "codeword" will be shortened into CW.
